Human capital in Poland in the years 2018–2022

The human capital condition in Poland. The specification of thematic groups within the human capital permits an elementary analysis of each area affecting the development of human capital. The study contains a list of indicators concerning such fields as demographics, health, education, labour market, culture, science, technology and innovations, and economic and social conditions of human capital development, containing indicators directly affecting the quality of human capital.

Cultural and creative industries 2017-2021

Basic data and indicators describing the functioning of cultural and creative industries in Poland in 2017-2021. The first chapter presents data about number of entities classified as cultural and creative industries. The next two chapters contain analysis of the number of persons employed, average paid employment, gross wages and salaries and financial results. The data on this area have been presented by enterprise size class, domains of culture and in the context of the total non-financial enterprises. The last chapter is related to the export and import of cultural and creative goods and services, and in this respect, the data have been presented by domains of culture, groups of countries and in the context of data of the total foreign trade in Poland.

More women in Poland complete higher education than men, but are they promoted just as often? How much do they earn compared to men holding similar positions? What is the percentage of female managers? Polish women are more likely to undergo preventive examinations, but do they suffer from modern-age diseases less often than men? How do they keep physically active? Are they satisfied with their lives?

Energy from renewable sources in 2022

In 2022, the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption amounted to 16.81%,which constitute an increase of 1.2 percentage points compared to 2021.

The demand for labour in the third quarter of 2023

In Poland, at the end of the third quarter of 2023, there were 111.2 thousand job vacancies (1.8% fewer than at the end of the second quarter of the current year). The largest annual decrease in the number of job vacancies occurred in the Information and communication section. The job vacancy rate decreased by 0.18 percentage points (0.89%) compared with the third quarter of 2022.

Information on entities of the national economy entered in the REGON register - November 2023

As at the end of November 2023 the REGON register included 5 143.5 thous. of national economy entities, i.e. by 0.2% more than a month before. The number of newly registered entities in November amounted to 29.7 thous. in the REGON register.

Accidents at work in January-September 2023 - preliminary data

45,809 persons injured in accidents at work were reported in January-September 2023, by 7.5% more than in January-September 2022. The number of injured persons per 1,000 employed persons (the incidence rate) increased from 2.99 to 3.22.

Producer price indices for business services in the third quarter of 2023

In the third quarter of 2023, the producer prices for business services increased compared to the previous quarter by 1.3% and compared to the third quarter of 2022 by 7.4%.

The financial results of cultural institutions for the three quarters of 2023 were higher compared to those obtained in the same period of the previous year. Total revenues increased by 17.1% during this time, and capital expenditures by 20.5%.

Poverty in Poland in 2021 and 2022

This publication contains the most important, currently available data on the extent and social differentiation of poverty and privation in Poland and also shows the situation in our country in comparison to other European Union countries. In case of information on the European Union Member States, data from the Eurostat database were used.

Foreign trade turnover of goods in total and by countries in January-October 2023

Foreign trade turnover in January - October 2023 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 1 349.8 bn, while in imports - PLN 1 301.2 bn. The positive balance reached the level of PLN 48.6 bn, while in the same period of 2022 year was negative and amounted to PLN 78.8 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of last year exports increased by 1.2%, while imports decreased by 7.9%.

Consumer price indices in November 2023

Consumer prices in November 2023, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 6,6% (with an increase of prices of services – by 8,6% and goods – by 5,9%). As related to the previous month consumer prices incresed by 0,7% (of which goods – by 1,0%, with a decrease of prices of services – by 0,1%).

Activities Of Associations And Similar Organizations, Foundations, Faith-based charities, Business and Professional Associations In 2022 - preliminary results

In 2022, in Poland there were 103.4 thousand non-profit organizations, which affiliated 8,3 million members. They had 153.4 thousand full-time jobs, which accounted for 1.4% of the average employment in the national economy. In connection with the hostilities in Ukraine, the organizations provided assistance to 17.5 million people and transferred material and financial support worth PLN 1.6 billion.

Activity of non-financial enterprises in 2022

Analysis of the population of non-financial enterprises presenting their size and structure relating to data from the previous years. Moreover, it presents the basic information concerning revenues, costs and financial results achieved, gross value of fixed assets and investment outlays incurred as well as the number of persons employed, employees, wages and salaries. Some data are presented including the actual location of activities of the entities (by local units).

Consumer tendency - December 2023

In December 2023, there was a deterioration in the current consumer moods with a simulta-neous improvement in future consumer moods compared to the previous month. The cur-rent consumer confidence indicator, synthetically describing the current trends in indi-vidual consumption, was -15.2 which was by 0.1 p.p. lower in relation to last month.

Average paid employment and average gross wages and salaries in enterprise sector in November 2023

In November 2023, the average paid employment in the enterprise sector compared with November 2022 was lower by 0.2% and amounted to 6 494.0 thousand full-time equivalent employees. Compared to the previous month, the average paid employment was recorded at a similar level.

These data are not migration flow – the total number of departures (Poles leaving their homeland) in particular years, and as such cannot be summed up.

Index numbers of sold production of industry in November 2023

In November 2023, sold production of industry was by 0.7% lower than in November 2022, when an increase was recorded by 4.5% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, whereas in comparison with October 2023, it increased by 0.2%. In the period January-November of 2023, sold production of industry was by 1.4% lower than in the corresponding period of 2022, which saw an increase by 10.9% as compared to the corresponding period of 2021.

Average monthly wage and salary in enterprise sector excluding payments from profit in November 2023

Border traffic and expenses made by foreigners in Poland and by Poles abroad in the 3rd quarter of 2023

In the 3rd quarter of 2023, there was an increase in border traffic of foreigners by 6.8% and Poles by 5.7%, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The values of goods and services purchased in this period by foreigners in Poland and goods and services purchased by Poles abroad were higher than in the 3rd quarter of 2022 by 15.8% and 12.9% respectively.

Price indices of construction and assembly production in November 2023

According to preliminary data, in November 2023 the prices of construction and assembly production in comparison with the corresponding month of the previous year increased by 8.0%, as well as in comparison with October 2023 by 0.5%.

Incomes and living conditions of the population in Poland (report from the EU-SILC survey of 2022)

This is the next edition of the report containing the results of The European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC). The paper consists of a descriptive part containing the methodological remarks on the EU-SILC 2022 survey, an analytical part and a tabular part. In December the assessments of general business climate indicator in all of presented kinds of activities (apart from accommodation and food service activities section) are at a similar or lower level as compared to the ones presented in November.

Residential construction in the period of January-November 2023

In the period of January - November 2023, there were less dwellings completed than the year before. The number of dwellings for which permits have been granted or which have been registered with a construction project as well as dwellings in which construction has begun also decreased.

Index numbers of construction and assembly production in November 2023

According to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out domestically by construction enterprises employing more than 9 persons was in November 2023 by 3.9% higher than in the same period of 2022 (an increase of 4.0% in the corresponding period of 2022) and by 3.1% higher compared to October 2023 (an increase of 9.0% in the corresponding period of 2022).

Retail sales index - November 2023

In November 2023 retail sales at constant prices were by 0.3% lower than the year before (against an increase of 1.6% in November 2022). Compared with October 2023, a decrease by 2.8% in retail sales was recorded. In the period of January-November 2023 sales decreased y/y by 2.4% (in 2022 a growth of 5.4%).

Some of them have been enriched with a graphical presentation of selected data for 2022 according to the Delimitation of Rural Areas (DOW) and for urban areas by size. Moreover, the population projection until 2060 is presented in the “Population” chapter. The study ends with two review tables containing major data about the Voivodship in 2000, 2010, 2015 and 2022, as well as selected information about the Voivodship compared to the country in 2022.

The most recent data presented in this edition of the Yearbook cover the period at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. To facilitate the assessment of the impact the pandemic had on the situation in Wrocław, the year 2019 has been adopted as a new reference period in the publication. Detailed information regarding social transformations and processes occurring in the city’s economy has been compiled into 20 thematic sections. Additionally, information from the results of the National Population and Housing Census 2021 is included, covering aspects such as people with disabilities.
