This publication contains the most important, currently available data on the extent and social differentiation of poverty and privation in Poland and also shows the situation in our country in comparison to other European Union countries. In case of information on the European Union Member States, data from the Eurostat database were used. This publication focuses primarily (but not exclusively) on measures of poverty based on expenditure criteria (relying on the results of the Household Budget Survey) and income criteria (using the results of the EU-SILC survey). Aspects of material and social deprivation are also included. Data on the subjective assessment of material situation were also presented as complementary to indicators of an objective nature. In addition to presenting the most up-to-date data on poverty and deprivation in Poland for the years 2021-2022, the publication also discusses the directions of changes in the extent of poverty and material and social deprivation in the longer term.
