In 2022, the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption amounted to 16.81%,which constitute an increase of 1.2 percentage points compared to 2021.

Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources (recast) established new targets for the European Union for 2030 and modified the rules for calculating the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final consumption from 2021 onwards[1]. Poland submitted the 'National Energy and Climate Plan 2021-2030' to the European Commission on 30 December 2019. It includes, among others, the targets for renewable energy indicators: achieving a 21% share of RES in gross final energy consumption and achieving a 14% share of renewable energy in final energy consumption in transport (to be implemented by 2030).

[1] Due to the changes methodology used prior since 2021, indicators of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption for earlier years are not comparable.
