New Polish Classification of Activities - PKD 2025

On 27 December 2024, the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on the Polish Classification of Business Activities has been published in the Journal of Laws. The document sets out the current rules for classifying business activity in Poland. The new regulation, which introduced changes to the classification, aims to adapt it to the current economic reality and compliance with international standards. The classification system will be more transparent and will enable effective monitoring of changes in the structure of the economy.

Polish Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics (CWPS)

On 1 January 2025, Poland took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, as the first country of the Poland-Denmark-Cyprus trio. Statistics Poland, alongside other ministries and central offices, are involved in the work of the Presidency. For Statistics Poland, Poland's Presidency of the Council of the EU is primarily the Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics (CWPS).

Foreign trade turnover in January – February 2025 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 240.7 bn, while in imports - PLN 245.7 bn. The negative balance reached the level of PLN 5.0 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of last year exports decreased by 5.0%, and imports increased by 1.1%.

67.0 thousand persons injured in accidents at work were reported in 2024, i.e. 2.4% persons fewer than in 2023. The number of injured persons per 1,000 employed persons (the incidence rate) decreased from 4.90 to 4.80.

As at the end of March 2025 the REGON register included 5 332.4 thous. of national economy entities. The number of newly registered entities in March amounted to 33.5 thous., i.e. by 20.0% more than a month before.
