Summary of the Polish Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics (CWPS)
The Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union focused its work in the field of statistics on two key legislative proposals for: the Regulation on European Statistics on Population and Housing (ESOP) and the Regulation on Non-Financial Commercial Real Estate Statistics (CREI). Work also progressed on the implementation of the revised Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 on European statistics – the cornerstone of the European Statistical System.

New Polish Classification of Activities - PKD 2025
On 27 December 2024, the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on the Polish Classification of Business Activities has been published in the Journal of Laws. The document sets out the current rules for classifying business activity in Poland. The new regulation, which introduced changes to the classification, aims to adapt it to the current economic reality and compliance with international standards. The classification system will be more transparent and will enable effective monitoring of changes in the structure of the economy.

The European Statistics Code of Practice – 16 Principles for Excellence, 20 Years of Trust
The European Statistics Code of Practice sets the standards for developing, producing, and disseminating European statistics. Among its principles, Principles 1 and 1bis are foundational, establishing the trust and credibility essential for a functioning statistical system.

Socio-economic situation of the country in first quarter 2026
Short-term analysis of phenomena and processes taking place, among others, in the area of the labour market, wages and salaries, prices, basic areas of the national economy (agriculture, industry, construction, domestic market), transport and foreign trade, as well as the situation in selected countries of the world. Moreover, information published quarterly concerns GDP estimates, demographic processes, financial results and investment outlays of non-financial enterprises.

Education in the 2025/2026 school year (preliminary data)

In the 2025/26 school year, 6.7 million children, youth and adults were enrolled in pre-primary establishments, primary schools, post-primary and post-secondary schools (0.5% fewer than in the previous year), accounting for 17.9% of Poland’s population.
In the Polish education system, pre-primary education is provided in nursery schools, pre-primary sections in primary schools, pre-primary education units and pre-primary centres. In the 2025/26 school year, there were 21.9 thousand pre-primary establishments (1.8% fewer than a year earlier), attended by 1362.1 thousand children (6.2% fewer).

Distribution of wages and salaries in the national economy in January 2026

In January 2026, the median monthly gross wage and salary decreased by 5.8% in nominal terms compared with December 2025, whilst it increased by 8.2% compared with January 2025.

Forestry in 2025

Forest land area, as of 31 December 2024, comprised 9488.8 thousand ha, with forest area amounting to 9289.0 thousand ha, i.e. 29.6% of the area of the country. In 2024, forest renewals covered 60.7 thousand ha and afforestation – 0.9 thousand ha. In 2024, in comparison with the previous year, a recorded decrease in total removals (by 1.1%) amounted to 41222.9 thousand m3 and timber removals, a drop by 1.0%, equalled 39447.4 thousand m3.
