New Polish Classification of Activities - PKD 2025
On 27 December 2024, the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on the Polish Classification of Business Activities has been published in the Journal of Laws. The document sets out the current rules for classifying business activity in Poland. The new regulation, which introduced changes to the classification, aims to adapt it to the current economic reality and compliance with international standards. The classification system will be more transparent and will enable effective monitoring of changes in the structure of the economy.

Polish Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics (CWPS)
On 1 January 2025, Poland took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, as the first country of the Poland-Denmark-Cyprus trio. Statistics Poland, alongside other ministries and central offices, are involved in the work of the Presidency. For Statistics Poland, Poland's Presidency of the Council of the EU is primarily the Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics (CWPS).

Foreigners performing work in Poland in November 2024

At the end of November 2024, the share of foreigners in the total number of people performing work was 6.9%. At the end of November 2024, there were 1 069.4 thousand foreigners performing work. Among them 418.0 thousand persons worked under contracts of mandate and related contracts exclusively.

234th anniversary of the 3rd of May Constitution

The year 2025 marks the 234th anniversary of the 3rd of May Constitution - a symbol of freedom, modernity and concern for the common good. Adopted in 1791 by the Four-Year Sejm, it was the first in Europe and the second in the world fundamental law regulating the state system in a modern and comprehensive manner.

Activities of local government units related to the occurrence of floods in part of the country's territory in September 2024

In September 2024, due to intense rainfall and sudden river surges, floods occurred across a significant part of Poland’s territory. Given the scale of the threats, a state of natural disaster was declared in 231 gminas in south-western Poland. It was the first instance of such a state being declared under the provisions of the 1997 Constitution, which regulates the principles of its introduction.

Consumer prices according to the flash estimate in April 2025 increased by 4.2% (price index 104.2) compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, and as related to the previous month increased by 0.4% (price index 100.4).
