Summary of the Polish Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics (CWPS)

The Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union focused its work in the field of statistics on two key legislative proposals for: the Regulation on European Statistics on Population and Housing (ESOP) and the Regulation on Non-Financial Commercial Real Estate Statistics (CREI). Work also progressed on the implementation of the revised Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 on European statistics – the cornerstone of the European Statistical System.

New Polish Classification of Activities - PKD 2025

On 27 December 2024, the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on the Polish Classification of Business Activities has been published in the Journal of Laws. The document sets out the current rules for classifying business activity in Poland. The new regulation, which introduced changes to the classification, aims to adapt it to the current economic reality and compliance with international standards. The classification system will be more transparent and will enable effective monitoring of changes in the structure of the economy.

The European Statistics Code of Practice sets the standards for developing, producing, and disseminating European statistics. Among its principles, Principles 1 and 1bis are foundational, establishing the trust and credibility essential for a functioning statistical system.

Moreover, information published quarterly concerns GDP estimates, demographic processes, financial results and investment outlays of non-financial enterprises.

In December 2025, sold production of industry was by 7.3% higher than in December 2024 (when an increase was recorded by 0.2%), whereas in comparison with November 2025, it slightly decreased by 0.1%. In the period January-December of 2025, sold production of industry was by 3.0% higher than in the corresponding period of 2024 (which saw an increase by 0.3%).

In January 2026, consumer sentiment moods improved, both regarding the current and future situation (compared to the previous month). The current consumer confidence in-dicator, synthetically describing the current trends in individual consumption, was minus 9.6 which was by 0.3 p.p. higher in relation to last month.
