In 2023 the net financial result of the banking sector amounted to PLN 27.6 bn, compared to PLN 10.6 bn in 2022. The balance sheet total increased by 10.3% y/y and amounted to PLN 2 994.8 bn. The value of loans for the non-financial sector decreased by 1.9% y/y to PLN 1 147.2 bn, while the value of deposits of this sector increased by 10.2% y/y to PLN 1 803.4 bn.

The overall net financial result of insurance companies in 2023 was more favorable than a year ago and amounted to PLN 9.5 billion. This was due to a better result obtained by both life insurance companies (Branch I) and non-life insurance companies (Branch II).

According to the EDP notification, in 2022 the general government deficit was 5,1% of GDP, while the general government debt amounted to 49,6 % of GDP.

Consumer prices according to the flash estimate in March 2024, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 1,9% (price index 101,9) and as related to the previous month increased by 0,2% (price index 100,2).
