On 1 January 2025, Poland took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, as the first country of the Poland-Denmark-Cyprus trio. Statistics Poland, alongside other ministries and central offices, are involved in the work of the Presidency. For Statistics Poland, Poland's Presidency of the Council of the EU is primarily the Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics (CWPS).

The objective of the Polish Presidency in the field of statistics will be to reach the compromise on the proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on European Statistics on Population and Housing (ESOP) and to start work on the Proposal for a Regulation on Commercial Real Estate Statistics (CREI) and the proposal for a Regulation on European Fisheries and Aquaculture Statistics (EFAS). Monitoring of legislation on official statistics will also be carried out. CWPS meetings are scheduled on: 20 February, 25 March, 29 April, 27 May and 12 June.

On 10-11 April 2025 Warsaw will host a High-Level Meeting of the Presidents and Director Generals of National Statistical Offices, organised by the Statistics Poland in cooperation with Eurostat.

A sound legal basis guarantees the provision of statistics of the highest, internationally comparable quality. These data provide the basis for policies, analyses and strategies. For this reason, the topic of the meeting will be the implementation of Regulation 223/2009, the revision of which was published on 27 November 2024.

The regulations take into account the new digital reality and crisis situations, enabling more efficient acquisition, processing and sharing of data and information of public good nature. Innovation in statistics and the role of statistical offices in data management will also be addressed.

Statistics Poland has launched a website with information on the Polish Presidency in the Council Working Party on Statistics (CWPS): https://eu2025.stat.gov.pl/en.
