Social dialogue partners – employers’ organizations and trade unions in 2022
In 2022, 353 active employers’ organizations associated 21,6 thous. members. However, a total of 1.4 milion people belonged to 11 656 trade unions. The most significant part of trade union members (19,3%) worked in education, while employers belonging to the employers’ organizations to a greatest extend dealt with human health and social work activities (16,6%).

The demand for labour in the second quarter of 2023
At the end of the second quarter of 2023, there were 113.2 thousand job vacancies in Poland (1.5% fewer than at the end of the first quarter of the current year). The number of job vacancies decreased the most on a year-over-year basis in the Financial and insurance activities section. The job vacancy rate remained at the same level as in the previous quarter (0.90%).

Accidents at work in the first half of 2023 - preliminary data
28,400 persons injured in accidents at work were reported in the first half of 2023, by 1.8% more than in the first half of 2022. The number of injured persons per 1,000 employed persons (the incidence rate) increased from 1.89 to 1.99.

Cattle population in June 2023 reached 6353.7 thousand heads and was lower by 1.4% com-pared to June of last year. The decrease in the total number of cattle herd resulted from a decrease in the population of all heard age groups except cattle over 2 years old (exclud-ing cows).

Pig population as of June 2023
According to preliminary data, the population of pigs* in June 2023 was 9436.3 thousand heads showing a decrease of 1.8% compared to the analogical period last year. The reduc-tion in numbers occurred in four groups of pigs, in particular in the fattening pigs, where it was 4.8%.

Foreign trade turnover of goods in total and by countries in January-July 2023
Foreign trade turnover in January - July 2023 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 944.8 bn, while in imports - PLN 907.0 bn. The positive balance reached the level of PLN 37.9 bn, while in the same period of 2022 year was negative and amounted to PLN 49.8 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of last year exports increased by 4.4%, while imports decreased by 5.0%.

Consumer price indices in August 2023
Consumer prices in August 2023, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 10,1% (with an increase of prices of services – by 11,1% and goods – by 9,8%).
As related to the previous month consumer prices remained at the same level (of which goods decreased – by 0,2%, and the prices of services increased – by 0,6%).

In August 2023, sold production of industry was by 2.0% lower than in August 2022, when an increase was recorded by 10.9% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, whereas in comparison with July 2023, it increased by 1.0%. In the period January-August of 2023, sold production of industry was by 1.9% lower than in the corresponding period of 2022, which saw an increase by 12.9% as compared to the corresponding period of 2021.

In August 2023 retail sales at constant prices were by 2.7% lower than the year before (against an increase of 4.2% in August 2022). Compared with July 2023 an increase by 2.8% in retail sales was recorded.
In the period of January-August 2023 sales decreased y/y by 4.2% (in 2022 a growth of 7.3%).

In September the assessments of general business climate indicator in all of presented kinds of activities are at lower or similar level as compared to the ones presented in August. In all areas, except for retail trade, the indicator is below the long-term mean .
