Procurement prices of basic agricultural products decreased in August 2023 in comparison with the previous month (by 3.2%) as well as while compared to the corresponding period of the last year (by 18.7%).

In the first eight months of 2023, there were less dwellings completed than the year before. The number of dwellings for which permits have been granted or which have been registered with a construction project as well as dwellings in which construction has begun also decreased.

According to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out domestically by construction enterprises employing more than 9 persons was in August 2023 by 3.5% higher than in the same period of 2022 (an increase of 5.9% in the corresponding period of 2022) and by 7.4% higher compared to July 2023 (an increase of 5.0% in the corresponding period of 2022).

In August 2023 retail sales at constant prices were by 2.7% lower than the year before (against an increase of 4.2% in August 2022). Compared with July 2023 an increase by 2.8% in retail sales was recorded. In the period of January-August 2023 sales decreased y/y by 4.2% (in 2022 a growth of 7.3%).

Compared to the previous year, households recorded a greater increase in expenditure than in available income, a decline in the consumption of most basic food products and an improvement in the equipment of households with new generation equipment. The subjective assessment of the material situation of households has deteriorated.
