The overall net financial result of insurance companies in 2022 was more favorable than a year ago and amounted to PLN 6.1 billion. This was due to a better result obtained by life insurance companies (division I) and despite the worse result of non-life insurance companies (division II).

Financial results of banks in 2022
In 2022 the net financial result of the banking sector amounted to 12.4 bn PLN, in comparison with 6,1 bn PLN in 2021. The balance sheet total increased by 6.5% y/y and amounted to 2 723.5 bn PLN. The value of loans for the non-financial sector decreased by 1.4% y/y to 1 169.4 bn PLN, while the value of deposits of this sector increased by 6.5% y/y to 1 637.0 bn PLN.

Price indices of residential premises in the fourth quarter of 2022
Prices of residential premises in the fourth quarter of 2022, compared to the third quarter of 2022, increased by 1.4% (of which on the primary market - by 2.1% and on the secondary market - by 0.7%). Occupancy of tourist accommodation establishments in 2022
In 2022, 34.2 million tourists were accommodated in tourist accommodation estab-lishments, with 90.0 million overnight stays. Compared to 2021, it was more by 54.3% and 43.2%, respectively. The occupancy rate of bed places in all tourist accommodation establishments in 2022 amounted to 40.4% and was higher by 8.1 percentage point compared to the previous year.

Information of Statistics Poland on the revision of international trade in services in 2010-2020
Statistics Poland published revised data on international trade in services for 2010-2020. The correction was related to the process of revising statistical data resulting from the work carried out to improve the quality of data sources. Revisions of full time series are conducted in order to provide users with consistent and comparable data between different statistical areas. Therefore, the correction of data on international trade in services was also reflected in the balance of payment statistics as well as in national accounts statistics.

Accidents at work in 2022 - preliminary data
66,606 persons injured in accidents at work were reported in 2022, by 3.2% fewer than in 2021. The number of injured persons per 1,000 employed persons (the incidence rate) decreased from 5.10 to 4.66.

Foreign trade turnover of goods in total and by countries in January-February 2023
Foreign trade turnover in January-February 2023 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 267.0 bn, while in imports - PLN 244.0 bn. The positive balance reached the level of PLN 23.0 bn, while in the same period of 2022 year was negative and amounted to PLN 5.1 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of 2022 exports increased by 13.0%, while imports by 1.0%.

In April 2023, there was an improvement in both current and future consumer sentiment moods compared to the previous month. In March 2023, average paid employment in the enterprise sector compared to March 2022 was higher by 0.5% y/y and amounted to 6516.8 thousand full-time equivalents. In comparison to the previous month average paid employment decreased by 0.1%.

In March 2023, sold production of industry was by 2.9% lower than in March 2022, when an increase was recorded by 15.4% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, whereas in comparison with February 2023, it increased by 14.1%. Maritime economy in Poland in 2022
Over the year, cargo traffic and the number of ship arrivals at Polish seaports increased. On the other hand the passenger traffic in seaports drecreased. The volume of international carriages of cargo by Polish operators decreased whereas the passenger carriages grew and passengers increased. As of the end of 2022, the number the maritime cargo-carrying fleet remained at the same level as in the previous year, whereas their total deadweight and gross tonnage increased as a result of re-classifications. The number of Polish marine fishing fleet increased by 1 vessel, the engine power grew by 0.1%, however the gross tonnage remained at the same level as in the previous year.
