Foreign trade turnover of goods in total and by countries in January-May 2023
Foreign trade turnover in January-May 2023 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 687.0 bn, while in imports - PLN 662.4 bn. The positive balance reached the level of PLN 24.6 bn, while in the same period of 2022 year was negative and amounted to PLN 37.6 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of last year exports increased by 8.1%, while imports decreased by 1.6%.

Consumer prices in June 2023, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 11,5% (with an increase of prices of services – by 11,7% and goods – by 11,4%). Index numbers of sold production of industry in June 2023
In June 2023, sold production of industry was by 1.4% lower than in June 2022, when an increase was recorded by 10.4% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, whereas in comparison with May 2023, it increased by 1.2%. In the period January-June of 2023, sold production of industry was by 1.7% lower than in the corresponding period of 2022, which saw an increase by 13.6% as compared to the corresponding period of 2021.

In 2022, fire brigades intervened in 608.8 thousand events. Interventions concerned 136.0 thousand fire events, 425.0 thousand local threats, and 47.9 thousand false alarms. 447 drowning accidents, of which 422 people died, including 47 women, were reported to the Police.
Water life rescue services carried out 1 813 rescue actions.

Inland water transport in Poland in 2022
The layout and length of Poland's inland waterways have remained at a similar level for years, while the volume of the cargo carried by Polish fleet owners by inland waterways decreases. Among the factors directly impacting the decrease in cargo transport and transport performance in inland shipping is insufficient development of waterways and unfavourable navigation conditions determining the basic structural parameters of the rolling stock, i.e. relatively low capacity of barges. With a small scale of inland waterways transport, the volume of transported cargo measured in tonnes is subject to large fluctuations resulting from the nature of these transports.
