The demand for labour in the first quarter of 2022

At the end of the first quarter of 2022, there were 158.7 thousand job vacancies in Poland, 44.0% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year. Over the year, the number of newly created jobs decreased slightly (by 1.0%). On the other hand, the number of jobs liquidated during the quarter increased (by 16.6%). In the first quarter of 2022, there were 2.3 newly created jobs per liquidated job.

Foreign trade turnover in January-April 2022 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 487.0 bn, while in imports - PLN 532.3 bn. The negative balance reached the level of PLN 45.3 bn, while in the same period of 2021 year was positive and amounted to PLN 17.1 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of 2021 exports increased by 17.3%, while imports by 33.7%.

Energy efficiency in Poland 2010-2020

In Poland, in 2020, energy efficiency increased by 0.7% compared to 2019. In years 2011-2020, the annual growth rate of energy efficiency amounted to 1.5%. Primary energy intensity decreased during this period by an average of 2.8% per year, and the final energy intensity by 2.2%. The fastest rate of improvement in energy efficiency was recorded in transport (by 2.3%/year).

Economic poverty rates in Poland in 2021

Since 2016, the extreme poverty rate has remained at a similar level of 4–5%. There was a year-on-year decrease in extreme poverty rate from about 5% of people in 2020 to about 4% in 2021 and slightly larger decrease in legal poverty rate from about 9% to less than 7% with the threshold for this poverty unchanged since 2018. The information presented in graphical form with short analytical comments concern: demographic phenomena, the child’s place in the family and beyond, supporting families with dependent children, social care, health and medical care, education and upbringing, culture and leisure, as well as threats to health and life. In order to show the diversity within the region, selected data were presented at the level of urban areas, rural areas and powiats. The publication ends with a comparison of Mazovia with other voivodships in the country, as illustrated by numerous charts.
