The demand for labour in the fourth quarter of 2021
At the end of the fourth quarter of 2021, there were 137.4 thousand job vacancies in Poland, 62.8% more than in the corresponding period of 2020. During the fourth quarter, an annual increase (over 20%) in both the number of newly created jobs and liquidated jobs also occurred. In the fourth quarter of 2021, there were 1.7 newly created jobs per liquidated job.

Consumer prices in February 2022, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 8,5% (with an increase of prices of services by 9,1% and goods by 8,3%). As related to the previous month consumer prices decreased by 0,3% (of which goods by 0,9%, with an increase of prices of services by 1,5%).

Average paid employment and average gross wages and salaries in enterprise sector in February 2022
In February 2022, average paid employment in the enterprise sector compared to February 2021 was higher by 2.2% y/y and amounted to 6474.9 thousand full-time equivalents. In comparison to the previous month average paid employment minimally increased (by 0,2%).
Average gross wages and salaries in the enterprise sector in February 2022 compared to February 2021 were higher by 11.7% y/y and amounted to 6220.04 PLN. In regard to January 2022 average gross wages and salaries increased by 2.6%.

Index numbers of sold production of industry in February 2022
In February 2022, sold production of industry was by 17.6% higher than in February 2021, when an increase was recorded by 2.5% as compared to the previous year, whereas in comparison with January 2022, it increased by 3.6%. In the period January-February of 2022, sold production of industry was by 17.4% higher than in the corresponding period of 2021, which saw an increase by 1.9%.

Acording to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out carried out domestically by construction enterprises employing more than 9 persons was in February 2022 by 21.2% higher than a year before (against a decrease of 16.9% the year before) and by 5.8% compared with January 2022 (an increase of 5.5% the year before).

Retail sales index - February 2022
In February 2022 retail sales at constant prices were by 8.1% higher than the year before (against a drop of 3.1% in February 2021). Compared with January 2022 retail sales increased by 1.8%. In the period of January-February 2022 retail sales y/y were by 9.0% higher (against a decrease of 4.9% in 2021).

In 2021, the number of crossings of the Polish border amounted to 193.3 million persons. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, there was an increase in border traffic of foreigners by 3.2% and of Poles by 8.0%. The values of goods and services purchased in this period by foreigners in Poland and goods and services purchased by Poles abroad were higher than in 2020 by 3.8% and by 12.0% respectively.

Cultural and creative industries in 2020
124.1 thousand enterprises belonging to the cultural and creative industries operated in 2020. The overwhelming majority of entities (99.1%) were microenterprises, comprising 73.8% of those working in the area of cultural and creative industries. Gross monthly salary per employee amounted to PLN 6,335, i.e. PLN 123 less than in 2019; it was higher by PLN 941 in comparison with all non-financial enterprises. The foreign trade of cultural and creative goods was characterised by a positive turnover balance, while foreign trade of cultural and creative services ended up with a negative turnover balance.

At the end of 2020, 1 880 enterprises in Poland (an increase as compared to 2019 by 1.7%) declared involvement in 4 030 foreign entities (an increase by 1.3% comparing to 2019) in the form of shares, branches or other forms. Majority of foreign entities were located in Germany, Czechia, Ukraine and Russia.
