In January 2026 retail sales at constant prices were by 4.4% higher than the year before (against an increase of 4.9 in January 2025). Compared with December 2025, there was a decrease by 17.8% in retail sales.

The long-term mean for the particular types of activity includes the following period: since 2000 – for manufacturing, construction, retail trade; since 2003 – for transportation and storage, accommodation and food service activities, information and communication, financial and insurance activities; since 2011 – for wholesale trade.

In January 2026, there was less by 8.0% dwellings completed compared to the corresponding period of 2025. The number of dwellings for which permits have been granted or which have been registered with a construction project as well as dwellings in which construction has begun also decreased (by 12.3% and 28.6%, respectively).

According to preliminary data, in January 2026 the prices of construction and assembly production increased both compared to January 2025 (by 4.0%) as well as to the previous month (by 0.6%).

According to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out domestically was in January 2026 lower by 12.8% than in the same period of 2025 and lower by 65.2% compared to December 2025.

In January 2026, sold production of industry was by 1.5% lower than in January 2025 (when a decrease was recorded by 0.9%), whereas in comparison with December 2025, it decreased by 6.0%.
