Economic aspects of environmental protection 2022

The amount of outlays on fixed assets for environmental protection in 2022 amounted to approx. PLN 13.9 billion (compared to PLN 12.4 billion in 2021), and outlays on fixed assets for water management reached the level of approx. PLN 4.0 billion (PLN 3.3 billion in 2021). In 2022, outlays on environmental protection and water management accounted for 0.45% and 0.13% of GDP, respectively (0.47% and 0.12% in 2021, respectively).

Domestic deliveries and consumption of selected consumer goods per capita in 2022

In 2022 domestic deliveries of meat (including pork, beef, veal and poultry) amounted to 4642 thousand tonnes and were higher by 6.8% compared with the previous year. The deliveries of both raw meat from animals for slaughter (by 9.1%) and poultry meat (by 3.5%) increased.

As at the last day of March 2023, there were 15 218,4 thousand employed persons in the national economy. The average age and median age of employed persons in the national economy were similar. The average age was 42.5 years and the median age was 42.0 years.

Demographic changes are nowadays one of the biggest challenges facing developing societies and although they are mainly the result of processes that have been taking place for many years, their effects – both economic and social – are now beginning to be felt. The observed trends in the field of factors affecting the size and structure of he population, such as: a decrease in fertility, an increase in life expectancy, the creation and breakdown of families, movement of population, determine the labour market, education, health care, and also affect the nature of consumption or the social security market. It can be concluded that along with the progressing demographic changes, the areas of social and economic life that they condition will expand.
