Statistics in focus Research and experimental development in Poland in 2022

In 2022, gross domestic expenditure on R&D (GERD) amounted to 44.7 billion PLN and increased by 18.6% in comaparison to the previous year. R&D intensity indicator, which constitutes a share of intramural R&D expenditure in GDP, amounted to 1.46% (in 2021 – 1.43%). Gross domestic expenditure on R&D per capita amounted to 1 182 PLN and was higher by 19.2% than in the previous year. The number of R&D entities increased by 0.8% in comaparison to the previous year.

According to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out domestically by construction enterprises employing more than 9 persons was in September 2023 by 11.5% higher than in the same period of 2022 (an increase of 0.2% in the corresponding period of 2022) and by 11.4% higher compared to August 2023 (an increase of 3.4% in the corresponding period of 2022).

In the first three quarters of 2023, there were less dwellings completed than the year before. The number of dwellings for which permits have been granted or which have been registered with a construction project as well as dwellings in which construction has begun also decreased.
