In 2022, there was’t no significant increase noticed in water withdrawal for the needs of the national economy and population and the amount of generated industrial and municipal wastewater (increase by approximately 1%) compared to the previous year. There was a reduction of emission of particulate pollutants from plants of significant nuisance to air quality by 9% and gaseous pollutants by 3%. There was an increase of the amount of total waste generated by 6% - there was an increse of industrial waste by 7% and a decline of municipal waste by 2%.

Forestry in 2022

As of 31 December 2022, forest land area comprised 9476.9 thousand ha, with forest area amounting to 9274.8 thousand ha, which was 29.7% of the area of the country. In 2022, forest renewals covered 65.5 thousand ha and afforestation – 0.5 thousand ha. In 2022, in comparison with the previous year, a recorded increase (by 5.7%) in total removals amounted to 44646.7 thousand m3 and timber removals, a growth by 4.9%, equalled 42702.8 thousand m3.
