Basic information on the number and structure of the population of Poland in 2016, and retrospective data prepared on the basis of population summaries. Data on vital statistics (characteristics of new marriages, divorces and separations, as well as births and deaths), lifespan and forecast of the population’s condition and structure. Information on the internal and international population migrations, and international comparisons allowing for the evaluation of demographic changes in Poland, in comparison with other countries.


”The Demographic Yearbook of Poland 2017” is the 50. issue - jubilee - of the Branch Yearbooks series published by the Central Statistical Office of-Poland (in 1990-1992 the series was entitled the Statistical Yearbooks). The first publication of this type was ”The Demographic Yearbook 1945—1966” issued in 1968. Twice the publication was issued out of the regular series and covered limited number of topics, namely - data
for years 1968 and 1969 were published in ”Ruch naturalny i migracje ludności w 1969 r.”  (”Vital statistics and migration of the population in 1969” in the series of the Polish Statistics - Statistical Documents No. 78) as well as data for 1978, which were published as a set of tables entitled ”Stan, ruch naturalny i wędrówkowy ludności 1978” (”Size, vital statistics and migration of population 1978”). Since 1993 the Demographic Yearbook of Poland has been published in bilingual version - Polish and English, since 2004 has been prepared in electronic version in two formats - in Acrobat Reader (pdf) and in Excel (tables).
