Consumer prices according to the flash estimate in August 2020, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 2,9% (price index 102,9), and as related to the previous month decreased by 0,1% (price index 99,9).

The demand for labour in the second quarter of 2020
At the end of the second quarter of 2020, the number of job vacancies in Poland, in entities of the national economy or in their local units employing at least 1 person, was 81.4 thousand and was 4.9 thousand or 6.4% higher than at the end of the first quarter of 2020. As compared to the end of the second quarter of 2019, the number of vacancies was lower by 70.4 thousand or 46.4%. At the end of the second quarter of 2020, there were still 17.0 thousand unfilled newly created jobs.

24,040 persons injured in accidents at work were
reported in the first half of 2020, by 29.9% fewer than in
the same period of 2019. The number of injured persons
per 1,000 employed persons (the incidence rate) also

Occupancy of tourist accommodation establishments in Poland in June and July 2020
In June this year, 1.3 million tourists were
accommodated in tourist accommodation
establishments and 3.6 million overnight stays
were provided for them. Compared to June 2019,
this was lower by 63.6% and 61.1% respectively.
A decrease in the number of tourists was also
recorded in July 2020, compared to the
corresponding month of the previous year;
the number of persons accommodated was lower
by about 34.7%, according to estimates.

In August 2020, sold production of industry was by
1.5% higher than in August 2019, when a decrease was
recorded by 1.5% as compared to the previous year,
whereas in comparison with July 2020, it decreased by
5.8%. In the period January-August of 2020, sold
production of industry was by 4.5% lower than in the
corresponding period of 2019, which saw a growth by
4.3%.

In the 1st half of 2020, the number of crossings of the
Polish border was 86.9 million. Compared to the
same period of the previous year, lower border traffic
was recorded, both for foreigners (by 41.3%) and
Poles (by 38.5%).The values of goods and services
purchased in this period by foreigners in Poland
(PLN 12.0 billion) and goods and services purchased
by Poles abroad (PLN 6.0 billion) were lower than in
the 1st half of 2019 by 44.7% and 41.5% respectively.

Family benefits in 2019
In 2019, PLN 10.3 billion was allocated to support families in Poland in the form of family benefits, and they were used on average by nearly 1.9 million beneficiaries monthly . Benefits from the alimony fund were paid in the total amount of PLN 1.1 billion. As part of the government programme "Family 500 plus", PLN 30.5 billion was spent on child-raising benefits.
In 2019, PLN 10.3 billion was allocated to family benefits aimed at providing financial support to families with children and people with disabilities. These benefits were used on average by 1.9 million beneficiaries monthly, and an average of 4.2 million benefits were paid during the month. Expenditure on family benefits was dominated by expenditure on assistance addressed to families with children, i.e. family allowances with supplements, subsidies due to giving birth to a child and parental benefits – 50.8% of the total amount of expenses. However, expenditure on assistance for the disabled, i.e. on attendance benefits, accounted for 49.2% of the total amount of expenditure..
