In March 2018 retail sales at constant prices were by 8.8% higher than the year before (against a growth of 7.9% in March 2017). The growth rate of retail sales was higher than in January and February this year, when a growth by 7.7% was recorded. In comparison with February 2018 retail sales were higher by 17.9%.

According to the EDP notification, in 2017 the general government deficit was equal 32 953 mln zl (1,7% of GDP), while the general government debt amounted to 1 003 399 mln zl (50,6% of GDP).

The leaders of the National Statistical Institutes (NSI-s) of the Visegrád Group Countries – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia – signed a memorandum of understanding on 19 April 2018 for a successful cooperation, exchange of experience and a more effective sharing of methodological developments.

According to preliminary data in March 2018 the prices of sold production of industry were by 0.4% higher in compar-ison to February 2018. The prices of construction and assembly production were higher by 0.2%.

In March of 2018, sold production of industry was by 1.8% higher than in March of 2017, whereas an increase of 16.2% was reported in construction-assembly production. In the period January-March of 2018, sold production of industry was by 5.6% higher than in the corresponding period of 2017 which saw a 7.3% increase, whereas construction-assembly production was by 26.1% higher than in the corresponding period of 2017 which saw a 3.9% increase.
