According to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out domestically by construction enterprises employing more than 9 persons was in January 2020 by 6.5% higher than a year before (against an increase by 3.2% the year before) and by 57.3% lower compared with December 2019 (against a decrease by 61.2% the year before).

In January 2020 there were more dwellings completed than the year before. The number of dwellings in which construction has begun also increased, whereas the number of dwellings for which permits have been granted or which have been registered with a construction project decreased.

According to preliminary data in January 2020 the prices of construction and assembly production were higher by 2.9% in comparison with the corresponding month of the previous year and by 0.2% in comparison with December 2019.

In January 2020, sold production of industry was by 1.1% higher than in January 2019, when the growth was recorded by 6.0%, whereas in comparison with December 2019, it increased by 4.5%.

According to preliminary data in January 2020 the prices of sold production of industry were higher in comparison with the corresponding month of the previous year by 0.8% and in comparison with December 2019 by 0.1%.

In January 2020 compared to December 2019 procurement prices of basic agricultural products decreased by 1.4%, of which pigs for slaughter (by 4.6%) and cows’ milk (by 1.8%).

Announced that the average monthly wage and salary in the national economy less contributions for retirement pension insurance, disability insurance and sickness insurance deducted from earnings of the persons insured in 2020 amounted to PLN 4 512.41, and in the second half of 2020 amounted to PLN 4 651.78.

In January 2020, average paid employment in enterprise sector was higher by 1.1% y/y and amounted to 6440.9 thousand, and average gross wages and salaries were higher by 7.1% y/y and amounted to 5282.80 PLN.

In February 2020 deterioration in both current and future consumer sentiment was noted compared to the previous month.
