In December 2023, sold production of industry was by 3.9% lower than in December 2022, when an increase was recorded by 1.0% as compared to the corresponding period of 2021, whereas in comparison with November 2023, it decreased by 9.8%. In the period January-December of 2023, sold production of industry was by 1.5% lower than in the corresponding period of 2022, which saw an increase by 10.2% as compared to the corresponding period of 2021.

In December 2023 retail sales[1] at constant prices were by 2.3% lower than the year before (against an increase of 0.2% in December 2022). Compared with November 2023, an increase by 11.0% in retail sales was recorded. In the period of January-December[2] 2023 sales decreased y/y by 2.7% (in 2022 a growth of 5.0%).

According to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out domestically by construction enterprises employing more than 9 persons was in December 2023 by 14.0% higher than in the same period of 2022 (a decrease of 0.9% in the corresponding period of 2022) and by 28.7% higher compared to November 2023 (an increase of 17.2% in the corresponding period of 2022).

In 2023, there were less dwellings completed than the year before. The number of dwellings for which permits have been granted or which have been registered with a construction project as well as dwellings in which construction has begun also decreased.

In December 2023, the average paid employment in the enterprise sector compared with December 2022 was lower by 0.1% and amounted to 6 495.3 thousand full-time equivalent employees. Compared to the previous month, the average paid employment was recorded at a similar level. The average monthly wage and salary in the enterprise sector in December 2023 compared with December 2022 increased nominally by 9.6% and amounted to PLN 8 032.96 gross. Compared with November 2023, the average monthly gross wage and salary increased nominally by 4.7%.

Procurement prices of basic agricultural products decreased in December 2023 in comparison with the previous month (by 1.0%) as well as while compared to the corresponding period of the last year (by 19.6%).
