In the third quarter of 2024, there were 85 341 registrations of enterprises recorded i.e. 1.0% less than in the corresponding period of previous year and 104 enterprises declared bankruptcy i.e. 19.5% more than in the third quarter of 2023.

In 2023, 195 firms conducted biotechnology activities, which constitutes an increase by 4.3% in comparison to the previous year. Biotechnology intramural expenditures incurred by firms amounted to PLN 2 382.2 million and increased by 22.0% on an annual basis. In 2023, 4 482 persons were employed in biotechnology in firms.

As at the end of October 2024 the REGON register included 5 286.9 thous. of national economy entities. The number of newly registered entities in October amounted to 32.3 thous., i.e. by 1.7% more than a month before.

One of the measures reflecting the labour market situation is the wages and salaries of employees. In view of the growing information needs in this respect, we have introduced a new survey – the Survey on the Distribution of Wages and Salaries in the National Economy, which covers the whole population of employees receiving wages and salaries.

At the end of May 2024, the share of foreigners in the total number of people performing work was 6.7%. Foreigners performing work in May 2024 came from over 150 countries.

Statistics Poland published revised data on international trade in services for the period 2010-2022 in the Knowledge Databases in the section International Exchange on the 31st October 2024. This revision is related to the cyclical process of revising statistical data as a result of work carried out to improve their quality. This revision was compiled by Narodowy Bank Polski, co-author of the International trade in services survey.
