In March 2023 retail sales at constant prices were by 7.3% lower than the year before (against an increase of 9.6% in March 2022). Compared with February 2023 an increase by 14.0% in retail sales was recorded. In the period of January-March 2023 sales decreased y/y by 3.5% (in 2022 a growth of 9.0%).

According to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out domestically by construction enterprises employing more than 9 persons was in March 2023 by 1.5% lower than in the same period in 2022 (an increase of 27.6% in the corresponding period of 2022) and by 30.6% higher compared to February 2023 (an increase of 41.4% in the corresponding period of 2022).

According to preliminary data, the prices of sold production of industry in March 2023 decreased compared to February 2023 by 0.8% and compared to that recorded in the corresponding month of the previous year increased by 10.1%.

In the first quarter of 2023, there were more dwellings completed than the year before. Whereas the number of dwellings for which permits have been granted or which have been registered with a construction project as well as dwellings in which construction has begun decreased.

Average monthly wage and salary in enterprise sector excluding payments from profit in the first quarter of 2023 was PLN 7178.30.

Average monthly gross wage and salary in enterprise sector in March 2023 was PLN 7508.34.

According to the EDP notification, in 2022 the general government deficit was equal 115 137 mln zl (3,7% of GDP), while the general government debt amounted to 1 512 227 mln zl (49,1% of GDP).

In March 2023, average paid employment in the enterprise sector compared to March 2022 was higher by 0.5% y/y and amounted to 6516.8 thousand full-time equivalents. In comparison to the previous month average paid employment decreased by 0.1%. Average gross wages and salaries in the enterprise sector in March 2023 compared to March 2022 were higher by 12.6% y/y and amounted to 7508.34 PLN. In regard to February 2023 average gross wages and salaries increased by 6.3%.
