Statistics in focus Occupancy of tourist accommodation establishments in Poland in June and July 2020

In June this year, 1.3 million tourists were accommodated in tourist accommodation establishments and 3.6 million overnight stays were provided for them. Compared to June 2019, this was lower by 63.6% and 61.1% respectively. A decrease in the number of tourists was also recorded in July 2020, compared to the corresponding month of the previous year; the number of persons accommodated was lower by about 34.7%, according to estimates.

At the end of the second quarter of 2020, the number of job vacancies in Poland, in entities of the national economy or in their local units employing at least 1 person, was 81.4 thousand and was 4.9 thousand or 6.4% higher than at the end of the first quarter of 2020. As compared to the end of the second quarter of 2019, the number of vacancies was lower by 70.4 thousand or 46.4%. At the end of the second quarter of 2020, there were still 17.0 thousand unfilled newly created jobs.

The results of the labour force survey (LFS) presenting average data for the quarter indicate that in the second quarter of 2020, economically active persons comprised 55.5% of the population aged 15 years and more. The indicator decreased compared to both: the first quarter of 2020, as well as the second quarter of 2019 (respectively by 0.5 percentage point and 0.7 percentage point).
