In May 2020 entities having 50 or more persons employed and participating in the monthly survey of production of industrial products, on voluntary basis additionally reported production of 2 044 715 face masks used in medicine and 22 149 899 other protective face masks.

In 1st quarter of 2020, financial results of cultural institutions were higher than those achieved in comparable period of the previous year. Total revenues increased by 3.5% and total costs by 3.0%. Investment outlays increased by 18.0%.

In the first three months of 2020, there was a decrease in the total number of tourists accom-modated in accommodation establishments - by 17.3%, and in the number of overnight stays - by 13.6%, compared to the first quarter of 2019. At the same time, a decrease in the number of foreign tourists by 21.8% was recorded.

Short-term analysis of phenomena and processes in the national economy, including monthly, quarterly and annual information, among others, on the labour market, wages and salaries, prices, basic areas of the national economy (agriculture, industry, construction, the domestic market), balance of payments and foreign trade.

The publication presents assessments regarding the current and anticipated economic situation formulated by entrepreneurs, as well as opinions on, among others barriers encountered in the business.

In June general business climate indicator is less negative than in May in most of presented kinds of activities, although observed improvement of current assessments (“diagnosis”) is lower than of expectations (“forecast”). Only current assessments formulated by entities operating in financial and insurance activities sector are less favourable than in May.

In May 2020, average paid employment in enterprise sector was lower by 3.2% y/y and amounted to 6173.9 thousand, while average gross wages and salaries were higher by 1.2% y/y and amounted to 5119.94 PLN.

In June 2020, there was an improvement in both current and future consumer sentiment moods compared to the previous month. The current consumer confidence indicator, synthetically describing the current trends in individual consumption, was -19.4a which was by 10.7 p.p. higher in relation to last month.

In the first quarter of 2020 the producer prices for business services increased by 0.9% compared to the previous quarter and by 2.0% compared to the first quarter of 2019.
