The presented book ‘Religious denominations in Poland in 2022-2024’ is the 11th edition of the publication devoted to churches and religious associations, which the Statistics Poland has been researching for 35 years. This publication was prepared in cooperation with the Faculty of Humanities of the AGH University in Krakow. For the first time, the study was subjected to scientific review.

At the beginning of the publication, selected aspects of the methodology of statistical research on religious denominations in Poland are discussed (Chapter 1). This is followed by a discussion of the names of Polish churches and religious associations from the perspective of cultural and religious studies (Chapter 2) and a presentation and commentary on the classification of Polish churches and religious associations according to religious traditions (Chapter 3).

Based on the aforementioned classification (modified and expanded), a large part of the book presents statistical data on the functioning of churches and religious associations, thus outlining the religious map of our country. In addition to data on the number of believers, clergy, parishes and places of worship, it also contains a summary of the basic tenets of faith, an outline of theological doctrines and a discussion of some historical facts concerning individual denominations or groups of denominations. In addition to descriptions of communities and churches, this edition also includes excerpts from religious texts that highlight the most important ideas and doctrines of these communities and their approach to organisational issues (Chapter 4).

The study provides a summary of data on religious marriages with civil effects concluded since 1999 and information on educational and care facilities run by religious organisations since 1990. Another important topic is the available information on cases of discrimination based on religious beliefs or church membership (Chapter 5).
