Dear Sirs,

we are pleased to present to you the Report of Statistics Poland, in which we show the activities of Polish official statistics in 2017–2022. Thus, we would like to bring you closer to our work and achievements on the national and international arena.

Events in recent years, such as the COVID-19 epidemic or Russian armed aggression in Ukraine, have required official statistics to adapt to growing needs of data users and changing realities. The most difficult challenge we faced was the implementation of the Agricultural Census 2020 an the National Population and Housing Census 2021.

Polish official statistics strives to improve statistical research. We are constantly working on increasing the effectiveness of our research, and at the same time we strive to reduce the reporting burden on respondents. We increasingly use official registers, public administration information systems and obtain data due to satellite remote sensing. For the regular production of official national and international statistics, we use innovative methods of processing and analysis of large volumes of Big Data. For this purpose, we use, among others, machine learning and develop programming solutions. We are actively looking for better forms of data presentation, tailored to the needs of our respondents.

An important element of our activity is the dialogue with stakeholders. We carry out activities integrating academia, public administration and education. We want official statistics to be close to people. For this purpose, we organize a number of events and carry out activities thanks to which we constantly expand the group of users of statistical data.

I hope that you will find a lot of interesting information about Polish official statistics in the report.

I wish you have a good read!

Dominik Rozkrut, Ph.D.
