Flash estimate of Gross Domestic Product in the 3rd quarter of 2019

According to the flash estimate, gross domestic product (GDP) in volume terms seasonally unadjusted was higher by 3.9% in the 3rd quarter of 2019 year-to-year against 5.2% in the corresponding period of 2018.

Foreign trade turnover of goods in total and by countries in January-September 2019

Foreign trade turnover in January - September this year according to exports at current prices amounted to PLN 745.9 bn, while imports amounted to PLN 742.3 bn. The positive balance reached the level of PLN 3.6 bn, while in the same period last year amounted to minus PLN 12.3 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of the 2018, exports increased by 6.5%, and imports by 4.1%.

Price indices of consumer goods and services in October 2019

Consumer prices in October 2019 compared with the corresponding month of the previous year increased by 2,5% (with an increase of prices of services – by 4,8% and goods – by 1,7%). As related to the previous month consumer prices increased by 0,2% (with an increase of prices of goods – by 0,3% and prices of services remaining at the same level).

The price index of consumer goods and services in October 2019 as related to September 2019 amounted to 100.2 (price increase of 0.2%).

Housing economy and municipal infrastructure in 2018

It describes the condition of dwelling stocks and housing conditions, including technical and sanitary equipment of dwellings, as well as privatisation processes, arrears in rental payment and in repayment of housing loans in housing co-operatives, eviction actions, renovations of apartments in residential buildings by forms of ownership, i.e. gminas, housing cooperatives, the State Treasury, employers, social construction companies and housing communities. Land owned by gminas designated for housing construction and housing allowances paid in 2013 by gminas to the users of residential premises are also included.

In October 2019, average paid employment in enterprise sector was higher by 2.5% y/y and amounted to 6383.3 thousand, and average gross wages and salaries were higher by 5.9% y/y and amounted to 5213.27 PLN.

In the period of ten months of 2019 there were more dwellings completed than the year before. The number of dwellings in which construction has begun and the number of dwellings for which permits have been granted or which have been registered with a construction project also increased.

Price indices of sold production of industry in October 2019

According to preliminary data in October 2019 the prices of sold production of industry were lower in comparison with the previous month by 0.4%. In comparison with the corresponding month of the last year the prices decreased by 0.1%.

Index numbers of construction and assembly production in October 2019

In October 2019, the value of construction and assembly production in constant prices decreased on a monthly basis and increased on an accrued basis, compared to corresponding periods of the previous year.

Index numbers of sold production of industry in October 2019

In October 2019, sold production of industry was by 3.5% higher than in October 2018, when the growth was recorded by 7.4%, whereas in comparison with September 2019, it increased by 7.8%.

Assessment of the situation of manufacturing, construction, trade and service enterprises is based upon the subjective opinions about actual and future business situation expressed by the directors of the surveyed companies.

Retail sales index - October 2019

In October 2019 retail sales at constant prices were by 4.6% higher than the year before (against a growth of 7.8% in October 2018). Compared with September 2019 retail sales increased by 7.0%.

In the third quarter of 2019, the number of economically active population aged 15 years and more comprised 17151 thousand persons, of which 16619 thousand constituted employed persons, while 532 thousand constituted the unemployed. The population of economically inactive persons comprised 13124 thousand.

Consumer prices according to the flash estimate in November 2019, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 2,6% (price index 102,6), and as related to the previous month increased by 0,1% (price index 100,1) .
