On October 20, 2019, in the Eurostat family of countries we celebrate the European Statistics Day for the fourth time.

As Mariana Kotzeva, Director General of Eurostat, points out, The European Statistics Day emphasises the value of official statistics in society and complements the United Nations' World Statistics Day, which takes place every five years.

This special day, dear to the heart of Polish official statistics employees, in 2019 is observed under the motto "Look at the facts".

In the era of post-truth and ubiquitous fake news, references by media, media, government agencies and private companies to reliable data sources and absolute verification of statistical information are key to the correct formation of public opinion.

Detailed information on the European Statistics Day celebrations in the European Union can be found on the website: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/ess/european-statistics-day.

We also encourage you to explore knowledge about Poland and the European Union, which is widely available thanks to official statistics on the Statistics Poland Information Portal, on the websites of 16 Polish statistical offices and in our social media (Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Remember - better data is better life!
