In 2023, the financial results of cultural institutions were higher in comparison to the previous year. Total revenues increased by 16.2%, total costs by 15.7% and investment outlays by 13.5%.

On the last day of June 2023, there were 2 332.5 thousand persons performing work under contracts of mandate and related contracts in Poland. Of these, 1 008.8 thousand were simultaneously performing work qualifying them as employed persons in the national economy.

Foreign trade turnover of goods in total and by countries in January 2024

Foreign trade turnover[1] in January 2024 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 121.9 bn, while in imports - PLN 115.7 bn. The positive balance reached the level of PLN 6.2 bn, while in the same period of 2023 year amounted to PLN 3.0 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of last year exports decreased by 12.0%, and imports by 14.6%.

The new DBW database is a response to the expectations and needs of our statistical data users. It allows official statistical data to be viewed and used in an intuitive way, under a Creative Commons free licence (Attribution - CC BY 4.0) and using open formats.
The database is equipped with an intuitive user interface that allows users to quickly reach the information they are looking for. Users can use a search engine with a wide range of prompts directing them directly to the selected data.

At the end of September 2023, the share of foreigners in the total number of people performing work was 6.5%. Foreigners performing work in September 2023 came from over 150 countries.

Producer price indices for business services in the fourth quarter of 2023

In the fourth quarter of 2023, the producer prices for business services increased compared to the previous quarter by 0.6% and compared to the fourth quarter of 2022 by 6.8%.

As at the end of February 2024 the REGON register included 5 174.6 thous. of national economy entities. The number of newly registered entities in February amounted to 38.8 thous., i.e. by 12.2% more than a month before.

The demand for labour in the fourth quarter of 2023

In Poland, at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, there were 97.1 thousand job vacancies (12.7% fewer than at the end of the third quarter of 2023). The largest annual decrease in the number of job vacancies occurred in the Information and communication section. The job vacancy rate decreased by 0.14 percentage points (0.78%) compared with the fourth quarter of 2022.

Statistics Poland's Day 2024

On 2 December 2008, at the meeting of the Committee on Statistics and Econometrics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the General Council of the Polish Statistical Association, the Committee on Statistics and Econometrics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the President of Statistics Poland adopted a resolution on establishing 9 March as the Day of Polish Statistics.
Since then, we have celebrated this special day for statisticians every year. The date is not accidental. The holiday commemorates a session of the Four-Year Sejm held in 1789, during which the renowned expert in economic affairs, Fryderyk Józef Moszyński, justified taking a statistical census on the Polish territories. It was then decided that the first general census should be taken on the territory of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, under the name of 'Lustration of Houses and Enumeration of Population'.
