Financial results of banks in 2022

In 2022 the net financial result of the banking sector amounted to 12.4 bn PLN, in comparison with 6,1 bn PLN in 2021. The balance sheet total increased by 6.5% y/y and amounted to 2 723.5 bn PLN. The value of loans for the non-financial sector decreased by 1.4% y/y to 1 169.4 bn PLN, while the value of deposits of this sector increased by 6.5% y/y to 1 637.0 bn PLN.

Preliminary information about general government deficit and debt in relation to GDP in 2022

According to the EDP notification, in 2022 the general government deficit was 3,4% of GDP, while the general government debt amounted to 49,1 % of GDP.

Financial results of insurance companies in 2022

The overall net financial result of insurance companies in 2022 was more favorable than a year ago and amounted to PLN 6.1 billion. This was due to a better result obtained by life insurance companies (division I) and despite the worse result of non-life insurance companies (division II).

The next edition of the report on The European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) containing data on income inequalities in Poland, health of people aged 16 or over (including self-perceived health), housing conditions, the equipment of households with selected durable goods, respondent opinions on selected material and non-material living conditions aspects, as well as selected indicators of social cohesion.

Consumer prices according to the flash estimate in March 2023, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 16,2% (price index 116,2) and as related to the previous month increased by 1,1% (price index 101,1).

Activity of enterprises having foregin entities in 2021

At the end of 2021, 1 900 enterprises in Poland (an increase as compared to 2020 by 1.1%) declared involvement in 4 246 foreign entities (an increase by 5.4% comparing to 2020) in the form of shares, branches or in other forms. Majority of foreign entities were located in Germany, Czechia, Ukraine and the United States of America.

Cultural and creative industries in 2021

130.0 thousand enterprises belonging to the cultural and creative industries operated in 2021. The overwhelming majority of entities (99.2%) were micro-enterprises, comprising 75.8% of those working in the area of cultural and creative industries. Gross monthly salary per employee amounted to PLN 6,927, i.e. PLN 592 more than in 2020; it was higher by PLN 994 in comparison with all non-financial enterprises.
