In the first quarter of 2026, there were 2 872 113 active enterprises in Poland. With regard to the kind of economic activity, the largest population were enterprises from section trade; repair of motor vehicles (16.7% of total). The largest number of active enterprises had their registered offices in the Mazowieckie voivodship (20.1% of total).

Foreign trade turnover of goods in total and by countries in January–April 2026
Foreign trade turnover in January–April 2026 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 532.8 bn, while in imports - PLN 540.1 bn. The negative balance reached the level of PLN 7.3 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of last year 2025, exports increased by 3.3% and imports by 2.9%.

In May 2026, sold production of industry was by 4.1% higher than in May 2025 (when a similar increase of 4.0% was recorded), whereas in comparison with April 2026, it decreased by 0.8%. Sales of prescription medicines in 2025
In 2025, the sales value of prescription medicines amounted to PLN 33.4 billion and it was 13.1% more than in the previous year. The number of completed prescriptions also increased, but only by 0.4%, reaching 515.6 million prescriptions. Up to 97.8% of all prescriptions were electronic prescriptions.

Value chains of domestic enterprises in 2024
At the end of 2024, most (83.1%) of the surveyed enterprises with 10 or more persons employed performed business functions only internally in the own enterprise. External sourcing concerned 16.9% of the surveyed enterprises, most of which (87.1%) contracted out functions only to other domestic enterprises. Business functions abroad were contracted out mainly to European Union countries.

Employment in national economy in Poland in January 2026
On the last day of January 2026, the population of employed persons in the national economy was 14 988.3 thousand, i.e. 0.4% fewer than on 31 January 2025. Compared with the last day of December 2025, their number decreased by 0.9%.
Among the total number of employed persons in the national economy, men constituted the majority. At the end of January 2026, their share was 52.5%. This was 0.1 percentage points (pp) lower than a year and a month earlier.

Environment in 2025
In 2025, a decrease was noticed in water withdrawal for the needs of the national economy and population (by approximately 5%) and the amount of generated industrial and municipal wastewater (by approximately 6%) compared to the previous year. There was a reduction of emission of particulate pollutants from plants of significant nuisance1 to air quality by 7% and gaseous pollutants by 2%. Over 6 million tonnes of municipal waste were collected separately, which is over 6% more than in 2024. The total amount of waste generated decreased by 4%, there was a decline of industrial waste by 4%.
