Border traffic and expenses made by foreigners in Poland and by Poles abroad in the 1st quarter of 2026

In the 1st quarter of 2026, there was an increase in the border traffic of foreigners by 1.4% and of Poles by 3.0%, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The values of goods and services purchased by foreigners in Poland and goods and services purchased by Poles abroad during this period were higher than in the 1st quarter of 2025 by 7.8% and 10.4% respectively.

Sales of prescription medicines in 2025

In 2025, the sales value of prescription medicines amounted to PLN 33.4 billion and it was 13.1% more than in the previous year. The number of completed prescriptions also increased, but only by 0.4%, reaching 515.6 million prescriptions. Up to 97.8% of all prescriptions were electronic prescriptions.

Value chains of domestic enterprises in 2024

At the end of 2024, most (83.1%) of the surveyed enterprises with 10 or more persons employed performed business functions only internally in the own enterprise. External sourcing concerned 16.9% of the surveyed enterprises, most of which (87.1%) contracted out functions only to other domestic enterprises. Business functions abroad were contracted out mainly to European Union countries.

Employment in national economy in Poland in January 2026

On the last day of January 2026, the population of employed persons in the national economy was 14 988.3 thousand, i.e. 0.4% fewer than on 31 January 2025. Compared with the last day of December 2025, their number decreased by 0.9%. Among the total number of employed persons in the national economy, men constituted the majority. At the end of January 2026, their share was 52.5%. This was 0.1 percentage points (pp) lower than a year and a month earlier.
