On 9 March, we celebrate Statistics Poland’s Day, established by the Main Council of the Polish Statistical Association and the Committee of Statistics and Econometrics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the President of the Statistics Poland. This date commemorates the session of the Four-Year Sejm held in 1789, during which a decision was made to conduct the first general population census in the territory of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

The Statistics Poland has been fulfilling the mission of Polish official statistics for over 106 years, which is to provide publicly available, credible, reliable, independent and high-quality statistical information on the state and changes occurring in society, the economy and the natural environment. The history of our institution can be found on the portal 100 lat GUS

Statistics Poland’s Day is a celebration of our employees who daily take care of the high standard of statistics and their development – they undertake new research topics and introduce modern solutions in data development and forms of sharing. It is also an opportunity to thank our partners and people associated with statistics. We would like to thank our respondents, thanks to whom we can ensure high quality and reliability of data, and the users of statistics, who inspire us to constant development.
