Statistics Poland has launched a new Knowledge Databases website. It responds to users' expectations and needs to explore and use official statistical data in a convenient and intuitive way. The data can be downloaded (also via API) and used under the open public license (Attribution 4.0 International - CC BY 4.0).

The new website has an user-friendly interface that allows for quick access to the information sought. Users can take advantage of a search engine with a wide range of suggestions, directing to the desired range of data.

A new feature of the Knowledge Databases is a set of dashboards, that perform the function of interactive publications on the domains. The graphic illustration of the most important phenomena on the dashboard allows users to quickly recognise the overall situation and leading trends. The Knowledge Databases offer the possibility to easily download the data used for individual graphics, as well as to export visual elements and use them in one’s own reports (under the terms of open license).

The layout and access to the metadata has been simplified, providing information to support the understanding and analysing of the data. It is possible to get, among others, definitions of terms and methodological explanations, information on the time series, as well as information on updates and data sources.

Compared to the previous version of the Knowledge Databases the scope of information has been enriched - up to 31 domains. New ones have been added: Public finances, Maritime and inland economy, Housing economy and municipal infrastructure, Social assistance and social benefits, Culture, Tourism, sports and leisure as well as Justice. Additional domains have been identified: Business and consumer tendency, Wages and salaries, labour costs, and Family. For some of the areas previously presented in the Knowledge Databases, the scope of information has been significantly expanded, focusing on providing data at the lowest possible level of classification and nomenclatural detail and presenting data in the longest possible time series.

The new website of the Knowledge Databases replaces the existing one, but with consideration for the needs of our audience, the two systems will be maintained in parallel for several months - until users have become familiar with the new product. The previous version is linked from the new Knowledge Databases homepage.

The continuously updated data made available in the Knowledge Databases in open formats and through API can be a valuable source of information for all interested individuals, entities and institutions, as well as providing a basis for various decisions, deepening knowledge or developing interests.

Feel invited to take advantage of the new Knowledge Databases website!

The modernization of the Knowledge Databases was carried out within the framework of the Open Data Plus partnership project, headed by the Ministry of Digital Affairs and co-financed by the Digital Poland Operational Program.
