Poland elected to the United Nations Statistical Commission for the 2025-2028 term.

For the first time in over 30 years Poland was elected to the United Nations Statistical Commission in the group of countries representing the Eastern European region.
The Statistical Commission currently brings together 24 heads of national statistical offices, divided into regions. It deals with methodological issues, coordination and integration of international statistical programs, and supporting activities pertaining to technical and development cooperation in statistics. Being an expert body, it takes consensus-based decisions which have an impact on the directions of the development of statistical systems.
Poland's membership in the UN Statistical Commission is the culmination of international relations managed by Polish official statistics services. Statistics Poland has been actively involved in the working activities of the Statistical Commission for many years, with a special mention of 1990s where Poland played an important role in developing the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, the flagship document defining the role of official statistics in the modern world (The Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, resolution 68/261 of January 29, 2014). To this day, The UN FPOS are a guide for all UN countries area in their work on providing robust, reliable, and trustworthy data and statistics to their citizens, safeguarding at the same time the independence and high quality of official statistics.
