In order to reflect current legal regulations related to price formation in the measurement of consumer prices, Statistics Poland on the ongoing basis regularly includes in the index of consumer price change data for selected groups of goods and services concerned by these regulations.

Consumer prices in August 2023, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 10,1% (with an increase of prices of services – by 11,1% and goods – by 9,8%). As related to the previous month consumer prices remained at the same level (of which goods decreased – by 0,2%, and the prices of services increased – by 0,6%).

Foreign trade turnover in January - July 2023 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 944.8 bn, while in imports - PLN 907.0 bn. The positive balance reached the level of PLN 37.9 bn, while in the same period of 2022 year was negative and amounted to PLN 49.8 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of last year exports increased by 4.4%, while imports decreased by 5.0%.

In Poland, as of the end of 2022, there were recorded over 15.6 million dwellings (an increase of 1.4 % compared to the end of 2021) with the total useful floor area 1 172,9 million m2, with 59.7 million rooms.

In the first half of 2023, the financial results of cultural institutions increased compared to those obtained in the corresponding period of the previous year. Total revenues increased by 17.4% and investments outlays increased by 15.1% during this period.

In Poland in 2022 household consumption of electricity decreased by 5.0%, and the number of consumers increased by 1.8%.

According to preliminary data, the population of pigs* in June 2023 was 9436.3 thousand heads showing a decrease of 1.8% compared to the analogical period last year. The reduc-tion in numbers occurred in four groups of pigs, in particular in the fattening pigs, where it was 4.8%.
