Consumer prices in April 2020 compared with the corresponding month of the previous year increased by 3,4% (with an increase of prices of services – by 6,5% and goods – by 2,3%). As related to the previous month consumer prices decreased by 0,1% (of which goods – by 0,6% with an increase of prices of services by 1,4%).

According to the flash estimate, gross domestic product (GDP) in volume terms seasonally unadjusted was higher by 1.9% in the 1st quarter of 2020 year-to-year against 4.8% in the corresponding period of 2019.

The price index of consumer goods and services in April 2020 as related to March 2020 amounted to 99.9 (price decrease of 0.1%).

At the end of 2019, 72.1 thousand children deprived entirely or partly of their own family, were staying in foster care, of which 55.4 thousand children in family foster care and 16.7 thousand children in institutional foster care. The number of children staying in foster care increased by 0.4% compared to 2018. The growth related both to children staying in family foster care and in institutional one.

Foreign trade turnover in the first quarter this year according to exports at current prices amounted to PLN 254.9 bn, while imports amounted to PLN 251.4 bn. The positive balance reached the level of PLN 3.5 bn, while in the same period of 2019 year amounted to PLN 1.0 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of the 2019, exports increased by 0.6%, and imports decreased by 0.4%

Average gross wage in the first quarter 2020 was 5331.47 PLN.

In 2019, 188 theatres and music institutions were operating in Poland. They presented 69.5 thousand performances with 14.4 million viewers. 730 premieres took place. Theatres and music institutions had 8.2 thousand performances in their repertoire.

In 2019, 959 museums and museums branches were operating (1.5% more in comparison to 2018), which were visited by 40.2 million people. Museums organised 2.7 thousand regular exhibitions and 5.0 thousand temporary exhibitions in Poland (including 100 exhibitions from abroad)
