According to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out domestically by construction enterprises employing more than 9 persons was in August 2023 by 3.5% higher than in the same period of 2022 (an increase of 5.9% in the corresponding period of 2022) and by 7.4% higher compared to July 2023 (an increase of 5.0% in the corresponding period of 2022).

In the first eight months of 2023, there were less dwellings completed than the year before. The number of dwellings for which permits have been granted or which have been registered with a construction project as well as dwellings in which construction has begun also decreased.

Procurement prices of basic agricultural products decreased in August 2023 in comparison with the previous month (by 3.2%) as well as while compared to the corresponding period of the last year (by 18.7%).

According to preliminary data, in August 2023 the prices of construction and assembly production in comparison with the corresponding month of the previous year increased by 9.8%, and in comparison with July 2023 by 0.8%.

In August 2023, sold production of industry was by 2.0% lower than in August 2022, when an increase was recorded by 10.9% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, whereas in comparison with July 2023, it increased by 1.0%. In the period January-August of 2023, sold production of industry was by 1.9% lower than in the corresponding period of 2022, which saw an increase by 12.9% as compared to the corresponding period of 2021.

According to preliminary data, the prices of sold production of industry in August 2023 increased compared to July 2023 by 0.1% and decreased compared to the corresponding month of the previous year - by 2.8%.

In September 2023, there was an improvement in both current and future consumer senti-ment moods compared to the previous month. The current consumer confidence indica-tor, synthetically describing the current trends in individual consumption, was -20.3 which was by 2.0 p.p. higher in relation to last month.

In August 2023, the average paid employment in the enterprise sector was similar to that recorded in August 2022 and amounted to 6 502.1 thousand full-time equivalent employees. Compared with the previous month, the average paid employment was lower by 0.2%.
