The United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) was created in 1946 by Resolution 8 (I) of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). The Commission brings together all actors of the global statistical system and is the highest supranational body setting standards for international statistical activities. The main role of the Commission is to support the ECOSOC Council, one of the six main UN bodies, in coordinating the statistical activities carried out by individual United Nations bodies.
The representatives of Polish official statistics contribute to the work of the Commission by participating in meetings of working groups and seminars. Our activity also includes participation in international consultations in various statistical fields, organised within the framework of the UN statistical system, participation in research, as well as sharing comments on documents and reports.
We encourage you to review the following articles, which will familiarise you with the scope of work of the United Nations Statistical Commission and areas of involvement of Polish official statistics representatives in the work of the Commission.
