Employment and earnings in national economy in 2017 – final data

The number of the employed in national economy  comprised 15.7 million persons, which means a  growth by 2.7 % as compared to 2016.

The highest increase was observed in sections “Administrative and support service activities” and “Accommodation and catering” by 7.7%, “Information and communication” by 7.3% and “Transportation and storage” by 6.8%. Since 2011, the number of persons employed in sections “Mining and quarrying” and  “Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply”  was decreasing. The average paid employment in 2017 comprised 10.4 million persons, which means a growth by  2.9%  as compared to the previous year.

 

Average monthly gross wages and salaries in national economy amounted 4283.73 zl, which means a growth by 5.7% as compared to 2016.

The highest growth in average monthly gross wages and salaries was observed in sections “Accommodation and catering” by 8.6%, “Professional, scientific and technical activities” by 7.6%, and “Trade; repair of motor vehicles” by 7.5%, while the lowest in sections “Education” by 1.9% and “Other service activities”  by 2.0%.

In 2017, the minimal gross remuneration was determined at 2000 zl. Compared to 2016, it increased by 8.1% (150 zl). The minimal remuneration constituted 47.2 % of the average monthly gross wages and salaries excluding payments from profit and additional annual earnings for budgetary sphere employees reached in national economy in 2017.
