The European Health Interview Survey (EHIS) is a key tool for achieving one of the European Union main objectives in the field of public health statistics, which is to create the statistical system for monitoring the health of the population in the Member States. The survey covers issues such as: health status, morbidity, mental health, accidents and injuries, health care use, health prevention and lifestyle. The survey is carried out periodically in the EU countries and its results allow to recognize current health status of population and its determinants in conjunction with socio-demographic characteristics, labour situation and place of residence.
