In 2024, the turnover of enterprises covered by the structural business statistics survey amounted to PLN 8,549.8 billion, compared to PLN 8,543.6 billion in 2023. As in previous years, the largest share of total turnover was concentrated in industry (33.8% of total turnover, compared to 36.7% in 2023).
According to the structural business statistics survey, in 2024 the number of active enterprises increased by 2.7% year-on-year, reaching 2,821.2 thousand units. The largest increase in the number of enterprises was recorded in services (up by 9.5 thousand, i.e., 3.8%), where over 3.8% of all enterprises operated. A decrease in the number of units occurred only in the trade; repair of motor vehicles section (down by 3.5 thousand, i.e., 0.7%).
The number of persons employed in the enterprises covered by the survey in 2024 remained at a similar level to the previous year and amounted to 11,524.7 thousand persons. The largest number of persons employed was in services (29.8% of all persons employed), industry (28.4%), and trade; repair of motor vehicles (20.8%). Compared to 2023, a significant decrease in the number of persons employed occurred only in industry (by nearly 52 thousand persons, i.e., 1.6%), and their share decreased by 2.9 percentage points year-on-year (from 36.6% to 33.7%).
