On 20 October 2025, the world celebrates World Statistics Day – an international observance established by the United Nations General Assembly. It is held every five years to highlight the importance of reliable data in shaping public decisions, supporting sustainable development and building public trust.

On this occasion, we extend our sincere thanks to everyone who produces, analyses and uses statistical data – both in Poland and around the world. Thank you for your trust in official statistics – a credible source of knowledge about our reality.

World Statistics Day is an opportunity to recall the crucial role that official statistics play in helping us understand today’s challenges.

Statistical data are indispensable for evidence-based policymaking, for planning development actions and for assessing their outcomes.

This year’s World Statistics Day is celebrated under the theme “Quality statistics and data for everyone”, emphasizing that access to high-quality data is the right of every citizen and a cornerstone of effective governance.

The central event of this year’s celebrations is the global “Around the World in 24 Hours – Stats Café”, organized by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) in cooperation with regional UN commissions and Eurostat. Over the course of 24 hours – from Asia and the Pacific to Latin America – different regions of the world will host open discussions, panels, quizzes and presentations focused on data quality, innovation and the role of statistics in social and economic development.

The European segment of the event, held under the hashtag #MyStatsStory, will feature participants sharing personal stories about how statistical data influence their lives, decisions and communities.

Everyone is invited to join the celebrations online – simply visit https://unstats.un.org/unsd/wsd/2025, where the full schedule and links to sessions of the 24-hour “Stats Café” are available.
