The year 2024 marks the 233rd anniversary of the adoption of the 3rd of May Constitution. The Constitution was adopted by the Four-Year Sejm, known as the Great Sejm (1788-1792). It was the first constitution in Europe and the second in the world, after the Constitution of the United States. During the sessions of the Great Sejm, the Constitution of 22 June 1789 on taking a census of the population in the Polish lands was also passed. The Act of 6 April 1990 restored the National Day of the Third of May.
