Polish Statistics Day was established by the Main Council of the Polish Statistical Association and the Committee of Statistics and Econometrics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the President of the Statistics Poland. The date is not accidental - it commemorates the first census in Poland adopted on 9 March, 1789 by the Four-Year Sejm.

The Statistics Poland conducts research providing necessary information in many areas of social and economic life and the natural environment. Official statistics builds an information resource that allows for planning and analysis of actions taken by the administration at all levels of state management and local governments. Statistical data collected as part of the research work of the Statistics Poland are also used by a wide range of institutional recipients (including universities and research institutes), entrepreneurs, the media, students and other users interested in the results of research in specific areas. Polish statistics develops research programs and tools to increase the quality of the obtained data, and consequently to constantly improve the quality of the statistics made available. International cooperation (including with UN and OECD agencies) and domestic cooperation is one of the priorities of official statistics. Ensuring comparability of data, participation in international conferences organized by statistical and economic institutions, constant exchange of experience with national statistical offices and presentation of achievements on forums gathering both entrepreneurs and scientists, favors the presentation and promotion of work carried out by the Statistics Poland.

The rapidly progressing development processes of the country and its international environment require official statistics to search for new research tools and data sources as well as to evaluate the adopted methodological solutions. Public statistics provides up-to-date, credible and reliable data, made available to users on the Statistics Poland Information Portal, in a number of signal information, publications and databases. Statistics Poland also reaches data users by publishing current information in social media. Official statistics also develops educational activities by organizing competitions and trips for school and student youth at the Statistics Poland and Statistical Offices, as well as by preparing occasional events promoting official statistics. Official statistics makes every effort to ensure that the presented data corresponds to the information needs of users as much as possible, and that the form of their presentation is as transparent and communicative as possible.

We invite you to use the information resources and publishing offer of the Statistics Poland and Statistical Offices.
