A mark for distinguishing products and services of the enterprise among products and services of the same sort of other enterprises. Trademark can be protected by a protection right . Granted protection rights are entered to the trademarks register.

Trademark can be in particular a word, drawing, ornament, colour composition, spatial form, in which a form of an article or a wrapper, tune or sound or combination of these elements. Grant of a protection right for a trademark is certified through issuing a trademark a protection certificate. The competent office for registration of a trademark and issuing the protection certificates is the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland. A protection right for a trademark remains in force for ten years from the date of reporting the trademark to the Patent Office.
