State environmental monitoring

Definition:

A system for measuring, assessing and forecasting the state of the environment, and for collecting, processing and disseminating information on the state of the environment.

State environmental monitoring (SEM) is the primary source of data and information on the state of the environment in Poland. It covers tasks arising from separate acts, from the international obligations of the Republic of Poland, and from other needs resulting from the national environmental policy. Within state environmental monitoring, data and information concerning the state of the environment are collected, including those that the Republic of Poland is obliged to report under its international commitments.
