Existing marriage


Definition:

Marriage existing at a specific moment of time (i.e. end of the year). Information about existing marriages refers to formal legal marriages and they are the outcome category of marriages balance.



Developed by the Central Statistical Office information about existing marriages relate to formal legal marriages and they are the outcome category of marriages balance, whose elements include: - marriage balance as at the end of t-1 period, - marriages contracted in t period, - marriages dissolved (among others as a result of divorce or death of a spouse) in t period, - marriage balance as at the end of t period.
