Least squares method

Basic method of estimating parameters of linear regression equation introduced by A.M. Legendre. It consists in estimating the parameters of the regression equation so that the sum of the squared deviations of the observed empirical values and the theoretical dependent variable values determined from the regression equation was as small as possible.
